See pets available for adoptionADOPTION FEES:
- DOGS:
- $125-250 for purebreeds (the amount varies and is the discretion of
- the adoption counselor/screener or the clinic's coordinator)
- $125 for lap dogs under 15 lbs,
- $125 for puppies under one (1) year
- $95 for all other dogs
- CATS:
- $85 for adult cats and kittens over six(6) months
- $100 for kittens six (6)months and younger
If within two weeks the adoption is not working out, you will get a refund minus a $15 administrative fee. After the two weeks, there is no refund. The adoption contract requires the dog or cat be returned to NMAF is the adoption does not work out for any reason.
You will be asked to fill out an adoption application, and one of our adoption assistants will interview you. The process takes between 30 minutes and an 1 hour.
All adopters recieve a free checkup by one of our participating veterinarians within the first two weeks after adopting. You also will get a 25% discount for a training class at ABC Dog Training, Corrales Kennels Dog Training, Sandia Dog Obedience Center, and West Mesa School for Dogs.
We will be happy to loan you any equipment you might need to get off to a good start with your new companion.
Animals up for adoption can be seen weekly every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at our pet adoption area at PetsMart on Mercantile. Cat adoptions are held at the PetsMart on Mercantile on Thursday 6-9 p.m.; Friday 5:30-7:30 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.; and Sunday 12-5 p.m.
