Shadow & Biscuit - Adopted!
PLEASE NOTE: These dogs are a courtesy listing only and is neither connected to nor being offered for adoption through NMAF.
Shadow and Biscuit are the best friends of an owner who is no longer able to provide the good quality of life they deserve. Shadow, a cattle dog, was born in January of 1999 and was adopted thru the humane society. She is the best doggy I have ever known. She is like a caring nurse or mother when you are sick or blue. She loves layin' around but also loves hiking and the outdoors. She is really a sweet girl but doesn't really get along well with dogs other than her little brother Biscuit, who is a year younger than she is. Biscuit is a Golden mix, who is completely helpless without Shadow. Biscuit was discovered roaming around a trailer park in late '99
when he was just a fluff. I could not help but bring him in. He has been a very loyal companion since. Biscuit loves to chase balls and retrieves them most of the time. He is a very mellow dog but also very protective of his caretaker.
Biscuit and Shadow bond with people readily. They learned about the dog door in minutes and have never had an accident in my house. They love to go for walks. Shadow was a real puller, but she adapted to a gentle leader without any problem. Now it's quite easy to walk with both of them. They can encounter other dogs on the street with civility. Biscuit just follows Shadow, his adored big sister. He defers to her and even cleans her face and ears.
They are very loving and affectionate toward men and women and don't bark at strangers or the UPS truck. They greet me with much enthusiasm when I have been away from the house. They also are affectionate and gentle with children. They
have a 14 month old human sister and are perfectly behaved around her.
These two dogs each have funny and sweet personalities. Biscuit is somewhat of a "talker." Shadow will race me for the bed or couch (she is very clever and fast!), but they both will go to their beds when told. They are sturdy and
active and act like much younger dogs.
