Buster - Adopted!
Buster is a Miniature Poodle and is 13 inches high at the shoulder and weighs 14 lbs. He is about 2 years old and is apricot in color with Phantom silver highlights. He was rescued from the city shelter in March 2010. He is housebroken and crate trained and uses a doggy door or will ring a bell hanging from a doorknob to go outside and he has not had an accident. He plays with a 45 lb Boxer and an 8 lb 11 year old mix. Buster thinks he’s the alpha dog over the pets and people in his pack. He will hang on, with every tooth, to what’s his but will also barter and drop anything for a treat or trade. The Boxer plays tug-of-war with him and he hangs on for the ride, like a balloon on a string. Perhaps it was his defiant attitude that landed him in the shelter.
Buster would love being the only dog in the family or where the other dogs will put up with his leading the pack. Despite his size, he can be rather pushy towards other people and pets when it comes to food and toys. He would be perfect for someone looking for a lap dog who they can live and talk with. Speaking of talking, Buster knows 20-30 word commands including the simple sit, off, wait, stay, roll over, etc. He will jump in his dog toy box and often will pull out the requested toy such as a rope, ball or sock and play fetch or tug-of-war until you are tired. He is the best lapdog ever and will lay motionless at your side until you awake or he needs to go outside. H goes for rides in the car, does well on a leash and enjoys trips to the dog park.
With a dog this special and well trained the first question you’d ask is “Why are you getting rid of him?” Buster’s foster says, “He was never meant to be a permanent member of the family. We were at the shelter looking for a Boxer mix when I saw Buster. We’ve had poodles as our family pets for the past 22 years so I knew he was smart and would be easy to train but my wife was ready for a change in breed so it was agreed that we would keep him until we could find him a better home than the animal shelter.”
Buster is a healthy, extremely smart, incredibly social and loving little dog. He is a very special dog and so his forever family must be special, too.
