This is Birch. He was born in March 2010. He’s a gorgeous lynx-point Siamese cross cat with lovely pale blue eyes and unusual markings. If you’ve ever seen a “snow” Bengal cat at a cat show, he looks a bit like that.
Birch came from Rio Rancho, and was captured with his mother, who was too wild to be adoptable. She was spayed and returned to her outdoor home. Her kittens were a bit older than the “optimum” age to be tamed for adoption, but they’ve become comfortable as house cats. Birch is quite shy, and will take some time and patience to warm up to you. He isn’t aggressive or mean, just skittish, and can be very difficult to catch. He loves to play with kitty toys, and will come up on the bed with you at night, but runs away if anyone tries to grab him or pet him when he isn’t expecting it.
Birch has begun to fully trust his human foster mom, and comes up to her for petting and attention when she is sitting still and quietly, so we have high hopes for his future. He may never be a “lap kitty”, but if you’re looking for a stunningly beautiful cat, and are willing to spend some time, effort, attention, and kitty treats to gain his trust, Birch will make a fine companion. Shy cats sometimes only “bond” with one person, and they often do best in single-owner situations. He loves other cats and is very playful, but probably needs a quiet home without young kids or dogs. He would do fine with any of his young buddies - Ashbury, Ishkabibble, all of whom were raised with him.
