Pico - one year old female, DSH, brown tabby with white
Pico and the Curse of the Ordinary
Pico has been in foster care for quite some time, mainly because she seems like a very ordinary cat. She has no medical problems to make people feel sorry for her. Her story is the usual stray mother on the streets. She’s pretty enough, but not so beautiful she stands out. Everyone passes her over on the assumption that a cat who gets along with other cats, dogs, and children can easily find a home. At an adoption clinic, there is nothing about Pico that seems special.
It is only in her normal environment that Pico can shine. Unlike most cats, Pico is fearless! When strangers come to the door, there she is to greet them. When I say she ‘gets along with dogs’, I mean she enjoys playing with 50 pounds of very active Siberian husky*. ‘Getting along with children’ means she tolerates being picked up any which way. She is a very special cat, and I would really like to see her with a good forever family.
"I am very sweet and calm. I like to watch everything that is going on around me with great interest. I love all toys, but feathers are my favorite. I also love my scratching post and will leave your furniture alone! I adore people but am not always a fan of other adult cats. Kittens are great though. I would do fine as an only animal but would enjoy other young animals. I am nice and quiet and would not disrupt a household. I was found in the UNM area and have been coming to Petsmart for almost a year. Please consider taking me home with you."
