Chava - Adopted!

Chava is a two-year-old small spayed female shepherd mix and a very special dog. She's looking for a very special person who will give her the love, understanding, and comfort that she needs. Although still a young girl, she has had a hard life. First, she has some neurological issues that are probably the result of a puppyhood bout with distemper. As a result, her legs are a bit wobbly and her paws don't always go in the planned direction. But she can run like a deer, and she loves to play!

Next, she suffers from plain-brown-dog-itis. Her wonderful personality is hidden in what some consider as just another brown dog. But what a brown dog! In addition to those incredible ears and soft brown eyes, Chava is polydactyl and has two dew claws on each hind paw! Some say that polydactyl cats are good luck, so why should a dog be any different?

Finally, Chava was abandoned and forgotten and ended up 23 November 2010 at the Albuquerque animal shelter where she has watched so many dogs find wonderful homes while she just sits and waits.

Because of her hard life, or maybe because of her coordination challenges, Chava is a little shy. In fact, she will occasionally leak a bit when she is scared or excited. But a doggy diaper will control that indoors and until she becomes confident in her new home. Chava's shyness simply disappears and her wonderful personality blossoms when given a little love and attention.

So maybe she's a little wobbly, but she will run straight into your heart if given the opportunity! And maybe she's just a plain brown dog, but her personality is big and bright and beautiful! Maybe she's a little shy, but she is waiting to blossom for somebody she can trust. And maybe nobody has ever loved her, but she has unlimited love to give to somebody who will be her friend.

By the way, the Alliance for Albuquerque Animals has offered to pay for the adopter's vet visit so they can be assured that her condition is not life-threatening or expensive.
