Diane - Adopted!

Diane is a short-legged "big" dog. She appears to be a Bassett Hound. She was born March 12th, 2011 and weighs 30 lbs. She is black with the gray-flecked white stripe from the top of her forehead down her nose like that of a Blue Tick Coonhound. Her ears are somewhat perky; when she is being very attentive one ear will stand up while the other flops down a bit. She has a white diamond on the back of her neck and her front legs and paws are white, flecked with gray, matching her nose. Her belly is white with a "Holstein" pattern all over it. Her black tail is tipped in white and wags constantly like a metronome.

Diane is a very friendly dog. She loves people, dogs and cats. Other than barking at cows and horses, she is not a barker. She does like to dig but not for escape purposes. And digging is not her primary means of having fun. She likes playing chase and keep-away with her siblings. And when I take her to visit at Mom's she loves to collect the cats' toys and roll and play with no threat of a sibling taking them away from her. She is adorable!


Diane is an indoor/outdoor dog. She plays outside for many hours of the day, and comes inside and alternates between napping and playing. She sleeps inside at night for a solid 8 hours. She has never had an accident in the house.

Diane bonds well with her family of people and dogs. She has no desire to run away. In fact, one day her foster mom forgot to close the gate when leaving, and lo and behold 8 hours later, when returning home, her foster mom found Diane just patiently waiting on the front porch.

Diane will do well in any household so long as she has companions. She is so very social. She could be the only pet so long as she lives with her people and has lots of interaction with them. She is terrific with children and can romp and play with them. She is also a good sport about being dressed up in doll's clothes...though she will do her best to tear them off!
