Sparky - Adopted!
Sparky is an amazing 3 year old, neutered male, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Dachshund mix. He has medium length tricolor fur and weighs 17 pounds.
Sparky has a great personality and is very sweet and loving. He has a lot of energy, is very playful and really wants to play with everyone he meets. He loves people and he is good with other dogs. He lives with cats but may be too playful for some cats. Sparky is definitely a lap dog, no matter where your sitting, he wants to be on your lap getting loves and pets. He is fully house trained, uses a doggy door, and walks well on a leash. He loves to go out for rides in the car but, he does get a little nervous and wants to be on your lap.
Sparky has had an unfortunate past where he has been at and returned to the city shelter at least 4 times. He was most likely adopted by older people who wanted a small, calm and cuddly lapdog and found out he was too active for them. We believe he was neglected by 1 or more of his previous owners so he is an attention hog, when you stop petting him, he will hop onto your lap or chest to get more love and pets.
Sparky has had surgery to amputate his right hind leg do to several breaks and injuries (including being shot). He had surgery in early to mid-September to attempt repair his ankle but, after recovering from that procedure, we found that the bone had dissolved to the extent that the pins were loose in his leg. The only thing we determined could be done to make him comfortable was to amputate his leg. Sparky is doing well, is without the constant pain, and seems to be very happy. He can run, jump and play like any other dog
Sparky needs an active and loving family who will give him all of the love and attention he deserves and who won’t abandon him again. He will need plenty of daily exercise and playtime. Sparky would do best with another playful canine companion and he would love to continue sharing the bed and couch with you.
