Mariah - Adopted!
Email Karon at kcely@msn.com or call (505)281-0330 to set up a special meet and greet or for more information about Mariah.
Approximately 55-60 pounds of gorgeous brindle, Mariah has the sweet good temperament of a lab with the handsome facial characteristics of a Staffordshire Terrier (or American Pitbull) and maybe some Boxer thrown in?? Her expressive eyes are wide with wonder and she has the most beguiling personality. Her foster fell in love with her happy well balanced ways immediately. An easy dog, Mariah gets along well with other dogs and seems naturally obedient. We think this great girl is somewhere between 1-2 years, making her birthday some time in 2013.
Mariah came from the Valencia County shelter. She was there for 4 weeks and, although a staff favorite, sadly no one took her home. As with so many deserving dogs, she still found herself on the euthanasia list one Tuesday morning due to overcrowding. A last minute midnight plea from the Friends of Valencia County Shelter and she hit our radar. We pulled her immediately and now you have the great fortune to make her your fur-kid forever.
Mariah is gentle with all the dogs at her foster home and they range from 25 pounds to 75 pounds both male and female. She has not yet been cat tested. She doesn’t jump fences or dig and although vocally expressive, is generally quiet. She developed some protective instincts around the shelter staff when in Valencia County so she may turn out to be a good protector on top of all her other excellent qualities.
Update from Mariah’s foster Mom:
As we get to know Mariah better, we have some additional information to add. Mariah’s roomate was adopted, so Mariah found herself without a buddy in her yard. We have learned that she does not like to be alone and has now twice scaled a 5 foot fence to get in with some of the other dogs at her foster home. She’s not trying to get out, but to get in with some other company. So, it has become obvious that Mariah is going to need a canine best friend. She will do best with a companion who doesn’t mind a playful pup. Mariah is still enough of a puppy, that if not supervised, she will get into things, esp paper, trash, plastic, things on the counter. Her lovable, affectionate and doting ways continue. Oh, yes, and she loves the gentlemen doggies.”
