Tippy, named for the white tip on her adorable tail, is a beautiful & sweet little girl just waiting for the right family to come along and make her their own. Rescued from the Valencia County Shelter, this little girl has seen an awful lot in her short life but is now relaxing in the comfort of a warm bed with lots of good food, toys to chew and canine friends to romp with. Currently at approx. 5 pounds, but growing daily, she is a bit if an enigma, a "calm" puppy - at least so far, happy to hang out with her foster brother and sister in the sunshine of a warm day or be near her foster mom. She is not fearful of other dogs, even bigger ones, a bit cautious with new people, but bonds quickly given a little time and affection. She does not like to be left alone, and voices her unhappiness loudly so would do well with a calm older canine sibling to keep her company if in a working home or a family with a stay-at-home adult. Cattle dogs, true to their breed, are very loyal & affectionate with their families, intelligent & sensitive. They are also fairly high energy due to that intelligence and will need regular exercise & can do well at agility or other canine sports. They are not meant for apartment living or very small children. Tippy is doing wonderfully well on her potty training, is a very good eater and learning to sleep on her own (we suspect she had litter mates and she misses that company at night). She would benefit greatly from formal puppy training when a bit older - ask us for recommendations! Once she has received all of her shots, microchip and has been spayed, she can be adopted. Ask about our Foster-to-Adopt Program for puppies which allows them to go to their Forever Homes before all vetting is done!
Tippy update - April 18, 2017
Tippy had her first Vet visit today. She weighed in at nearly 7 pounds and was pronounced healthy and free from all of the parasites puppies can sometimes have. The Vet thinks she is currently 8-9 weeks old. She charmed the socks off all of the Vet staff and was snuggled the whole time she was there!! All she needs now is her forever family!!
