Bellissima aka Bella - Adopted!
Email Vicki at vicki@nmaf.org or call Jeri at (505)350-7463 for more information about Bella.
Born 2006
If you like “Cattitude,” then Bella is the girl for you!
Bella does not grant the keys for her world to just anyone. However, once you learn that she will do just about anything to be combed or brushed, you can win her heart and her trust. Once she realizes that you are applying for the job of answering her every grooming whim, she will actually replace her normally disdainful “Don’t mess with me” stare with a wide eager look that says, “Oh, boy, am I glad to see you!” You will have to earn this coveted look, and it may take a few weeks of internship. You’ll know you’re there when you gently backwards-fluff her fur along her sides and she, absolutely enraptured, arches her back and contentedly takes up the forward kitty yoga position. She will turn around and almost smile at you. But first you have to get through the “Hissy Queen” behavior she uses around strangers. She even enjoys a warm shower with the removable shower sprayer and gentle warm water flow! The water isn’t her favorite part, but she likes the kitty shampoo massage and the circular massage when being rinsed. She also enjoys being cuddled in the warm, dry towels.
Bella does not lower herself to the level of the average cat, but she will tolerate most cats if they leave her alone. She is now living with one other resident cat who mostly ignores her. That seems to work fine. Bella will not do well with cats that pester her, and she can be uppity if she takes a dislike to a pestiferous cat. (She may even sneak a swipe at him or her when you are not looking.)
Bella has had some intestinal issues in the past, but we think it may have been related to stress. She seems to have recovered from the digestive problems and is eating well.
If you are smitten by Bella’s charm and beauty and not put off by her haughty manner, you may want to give this girl a chance to show you her loving, trusting side. She has had many changes in the recent past and just needs some stability. If you are patient, Bella may be willing to give you, too, the keys to her world!
If you have any questions about Bella and are interested in learning more, or want to schedule a meet-and-greet at the foster home, please contact Vicki @ vicki@nmaf.org or call Jeri at (505)350-7463.
