Chester - Adopted!
Email Alan at duhondmd@yahoo.com or call MaryEllen at(505)699-7864 or email her at mecarr2603@earthlink.net for more information about Chester.
Chester is approximately 12 years old and is a tiny bundle of self confidence and so handsome! He came to us severely abused, anxious and scared - it took several years for him to trust his human companions. He still prefers the women in his life, but will tolerate a gentle, caring man. Absolutely no children!!!
He loves hand play, riding in the car, walks in the park and is great on leash. He does have a short play and relaxation span, but will indicate when he has had enough - a little growl or body tensing. He does not like over stimulation. He can be cuddly and playful, so if you pay attention to his body language and release him when he indicates he is done, he enjoys himself and his time with you. He loves to have lap time, so if you watch TV or are reading he will happily take a lap snooze.
Chester is house trained, crate trained, doggie door trained and a non barker, but will bark at other dogs or as an alert to changes in his environment. He is very reliable in the house, is a master at using the doggie door, but will sometimes mark inside. He needs a gentle dog companion of his choosing and respectful, patient, dog loving human companions.
Chester has walked the walk in learning to trust his humans, and although he will still sometimes snap when startled or made to feel unsafe, he warns with a growl. He would be great as an only dog in a settled, friendly and caring adult environment.
