Meet Mr Hanson (or should it be Handsome???), an adorable Border Terrier Mix puppy with all the inquisitiveness and alertness that his breeding brings. He may be what is called a “Border Jack” (mixed with Jack Russell ), also called a JRBT (Jack Russell Border Terrier) about which books have been written due to their popularity. This mix promises to be energetic (as in high energy) and filled with personality but needs early & consistent training to bring out the best of both breeds. Ready for a walk?? He’s the first one lined up. Ready for a cuddle?? Just try to sit on the floor - he’s in your lap. Giving you kisses Born late 2016 and at approximately 17 pounds, this little guy is sturdy enough for rough play with the big dogs and with more leash training, could be a great jogging partner. He will need lots of exercise to keep him at his best behavior. And running is one way to do that very well. He will most likely grow a bit more - into those long legs he has. His coat is wiry and he still has his puppy wiggle when seeing his people. He has had little to no formal training but is bright and people-focused - a good Trainer or experienced Owner can do wonders with this boy. He was found as a stray down in southern NM and never claimed so lucky him, made his way to ABQ and into NMAF through transport. He is crate trained and appears to be house-broken, is learning to curb his vocal cords and feel more confident when his Foster Mom is out of sight. He will be ready for adoption as soon as he is neutered and microchipped.

Hanson Update 7/13/17
Hanson is kid-friendly!! After 2 weeks with his Foster Mom's grandchildren, Hanson is now used to 3 active school age kids around all the time. He had never been exposed to children we believe, but now romps, plays chase and fetch with everybody. He is also now neutered and ready to go to his new Forever Home! Come meet him at Petsmart Saturdays!
