Rowdy - Adopted
Male
Kelpie Mix
Born 2015-2016
Call Karon Ely at (505) 281-0330 for more information about Rowdy.
Do not assume Rowdy will be at the adoption clinic unless you call ahead.
Rowdy was an unclaimed stray from Lordsburg Animal Control. So far this young (1-2 years old), sweet, and attentive boy has not lived up to his name. He does love to play and run but he is quiet and well behaved. He sits like a champ and is good with other dogs. On a leash, Rowdy tends to be a little undecided about which side he wants to walk on so we are working on that. He comes readily in an enclosed area off leash and is very affectionate. He will dart off if gate is left open so secure fencing is a must. He alertly follows his foster mom around while she does farm chores and will prove to be a loyal companion as he grows into adulthood. Rowdy travels well in the car but is not totally comfortable yet. He appears to be house broken and uses a doggie door.
We have Rowdy listed as a kelpie cross, which is a type of Australian Cattle Dog. At 40 pounds Rowdy is not a big boy but he is built fairly solid. He will want to be fairly active and would thrive with appropriate exercise, additional guidance, attention, and a job to do.
We are looking for a home with a yard and doggie door and ideally, a companion, if the new dog parents are all working. Crating is not an option.
