This special senior girl was found walking the streets in Albuquerque on April 6th, 2018 by ABQ Animal Control.
She was in bad shape. She had an infection in her uterus that would have killed her had she not been picked up. The good folks at ABQ Animal Control performed a full hysterectomy on her and saved her life.
Hannah sat at the ABQ Animal Shelter going unnoticed by the public, probably due to her age, until New Mexico Animal Friends took her in on June 20th, 2018. It is often easier for a senior or a special needs dog or cat to get adopted via a rescue group rather than a shelter. It is for this reason that NMAF works in conjunction with the City animal shelters, County animal shelters, and Animal Humane to bring those special pets into our group.
As is often the case, Hannah blossomed once she got out of the shelter and to her foster home in the country. The fresh air and companionship of other dogs (and even a donkey!) has agreed with her. While the other dogs run top speed playing "chase", Hannah trots behind them as if to say "Hey, wait for me!"
She would make a great companion dog to someone that enjoys a very happy, gentle, quiet girl. She would do well in a home with other dogs or as an only dog.
Hannah's medical issues have all been resolved. She has been examined by our vets and has been given a clean bill of health.
