Bailey is one handsome boy with his fluffy white coat and piercing blue eyes and at just under 20 pounds, a great size!! He came to NMAF as an owner surrender from a home where there are just too many dogs when his mom downsized living space recently. He was originally adopted from the Albuquerque Shelter system in 2017 - not much is known before that. Bailey is what is called a "dominant male" so should not live in a home with another male dog - though he can live fine with non dominant females. He loves, loves, loves to go to the dog park and plays with all kinds of dogs there so it appears his dominance is tied to his home environment. Once Bailey gets to know you he is very social and affectionate - it takes a couple of meetings for him to get to that point so he will need an owner that is willing to take the time to let him get comfortable. Treats are a big plus both with socialization and training with Bailey. He knows a number of commands and is smart and attentive so can learn more. His mom says he is HIGH ENERGY so is a dog that needs multiple walks a day, play time or dog park time to run that energy off. Living close to a dog park would be a big plus! He chases balls and loves a kiddie swimming pool in the summertime. Bailey is up-to-date on all shots, neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (negative) and on preventative. He is potty trained. Bailey would do best as either an only dog with a retired family or with another female playful dog and older school age children that are dog savvy. He has been around cats but not lived with one.
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
