Meet little Mia - a true survivor! This little girl found herself at the Bernalillo County Shelter in early May, along with two other dogs, when her family lost their home and had to go into a shelter themselves. Her family listed her as 22 years old when they left her - but the veterinarians who have met her put her at about 15 years young. Don't let her age fool you, this little girl still has lots of love and life to live! We call her little Miss Bossy Britches as once she had a bath, a warm meal, and a hair trim, she started telling everyone what to do in her hoarse little voice. She had rubbed the top of her nose raw in the shelter, but it is now healing nicely. She had an ear infection and kennel cough, but that is all better. She is a good eater and still loves to go for short walks every day. She would make an excellent companion for a senior who just wants a little BFF to hang with, watch soap operas, and enjoy cuddle time. Mia was never spayed and is in desperate need of dental care which NMAF will do for her. This will cost over $1300, so if you would like to sponsor Mia or contribute to her care, we (and she) would be ever so grateful. Donations can be made through the NMAF website. Next on her Bucket List is a visit to the beauty parlor - oh boy!! Check back for before and after pics!!
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
