Hi there!! My name is Petunia cause my former mom thought I was so sweet! I came to NMAF back in August of 2017 from the Lordsburg Shelter in southwestern NM because they were so overcrowded and needed to get some of us out of there. I was just a pup then and still pretty shy. I got adopted pretty quickly as I was (and still am) a pretty little thing, but recently my mom had to give me back to NMAF because she had to go into a Home for the Elderly and could not keep me. It has been pretty hard on me, and I miss her a lot. I am in foster care now with Miss Pat whom I get along with just fine, but I'd really like to find a new Forever Home so I can put down roots. I think I would like just a single mom, maybe someone retired but still active that likes cuddles, watching TV with me and some leisurely walks. I am shy around men as I just don't have a lot of experience with them but could adapt to a dad that is kind & patient and will take the time to let me warm up. I am a great companion and don't necessarily need another dog, though I do get along with other dogs. I am up-to-date on all my shots, spayed, microchipped and heartworm tested (negative) so I am really ready to go! Come meet me at PetSmart on Saturdays - info below.
