Sweet little Sealy came from a terrible hoarding situation here in Bernalillo County, NM. Living in filth and terrible circumstances, she was part of a group of 18 Lhasa Apsos that came to the Bernalillo County Shelter in early May 2019. NMAF has been working with the County to get some of these little ones out and into foster care. Some did not make it, 5 still remain at the Shelter as of July. Since going into foster care in Los Lunas, Sealy has blossomed - she follows her Foster Mom around, lays quietly at her feet and has rediscovered the joys of a soft squeaky toy - laying on her back in delight - squeaking away! She promises to be a beauty once she is groomed again with her dark grey and cream coat. See her first Shelter picture from May 3rd after her first grooming and her current ones on her new Foster Mom's lap. Sealy, like all the dogs that were pulled into the Shelter, has significant dental issues and a condition common to Lhasas called Corneal Pigmentation. NMAF is committed to fixing her teeth, which may need to be done after adoption as she is not fostered in ABQ where NMAF's vet is, and hopefully the Corneal Pigmentation can be controlled with artificial tears. This condition is highly treatable. She is up-to-date on all vaccinations and microchipped.
If you are interested in more info on Sealy or any of the others still in the Shelter (we need fosters or adopters for them), or donating to medical care, please contact the person listed above.
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
