Little Bandit and his sister, Nellie, came from a rural shelter near Albuquerque, found as strays. How someone could lose these precious little ones is beyond understanding, but they were picked up and at least were safe. They must not have been wandering too long as they are in pretty good shape, though a bit thin. When they first came to rescue, they were defensive and protective of each other, not allowing themselves to be handled. Within 24 hours we separated them into different foster homes and, amazingly, they settled right down, opened themselves up to human touch, and have emerged as happy little pups. The shelter put them at about 9 months of age, which we will confirm when they are spay/neutered, microchipped, and receive their rabies vaccine on September 23rd. Bandit is an adorable little guy with wonderful markings who loves to play and has found a new buddy in little Billie. He can now be picked up easily, loves cuddling and is doing really well. As a young dog, he should have the benefit of at least one other playful dog in his Furrever Home to teach him the ropes and help in his social development. Small children, under 7, are not recommended as he is quite small. Cats are an unknown. After September 23rd, he will be up-to-date on all shots, microchipped, and neutered. We do know that he is crate-averse so will need a safe place to sleep or another dog to cuddle up with at night. NMAF can provide recommendations to his adoptive family as part of his home visit, currently being done via video during COVID constraints.
