Sweet little Finley has had a rough road these last few months. In October, she was surrendered to the shelter because she was terrified of the bigger dog in her home who had evidently been mean to her. She shook and whined all the time - stressed out to the max. The day after she was surrendered, shelter staff came in to find she had birthed 2 puppies. She went directly into foster care and took care of the puppies like a good little mother until they were weaned, then it was her turn to come back to the shelter and find a home. Luckily, NMAF spotted her as she is just the prettiest little girl ever. At just a little over a year old (15 months), she is blossoming in foster care with her new doggie sisters, near her own size. She is playful and affectionate, though can be a bit shy upon first meeting - just give her time when meeting her to warm up. She has a beautiful coat, thick and wavy, tan & cream. She is up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm tested (Neg), sleeps in a crate quietly, and is house-trained. We would like to see her go to a Furrever Home where there is another small dog near her size that she can play with - no bigger dogs due to her previous fears. We do not know how she is with small children as yet, nor cats. As a young dog she needs exercise, so daily walks are a must, and some leash training would help. She can be met in her foster home during the week or at PetSmart on Academy & Wyoming on Saturdays.
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
