Gracie is a sweet little girl found wandering away from her home on the Westside of ABQ. Such a typical, sad story and such a hardship for a small dog! How terrifying that must be! Luckily, she was picked up and taken care of by our wonderful Animal Welfare Department. Now in foster care with NMAF, she is finally starting to feel secure and learning to relax. Our use of a Thundershirt for a while has helped immensely, and she is also starting to feel better from her recent spay and treatment for kennel cough. Gracie has the coloring of a Yorkshire Terrier but is long-legged and must have another breed of Terrier mixed in to give her that "crazy hair day" look. At 11 pounds, she is a good size - not too fragile, and should gain a pound or two to be at optimum weight. She is a good eater, so this won't be hard. She knows the "scruffy" look is in and looks up at you from under her shaggy mop with alert and bright eyes. Once she is able, a day at the Doggy Spa for a bath & haircut will make this girl a real cutie pie! Gracie is living with two other Yorkies and does well. She is very people-centric and we believe may have some anxiety so would do best in a quiet home, perhaps with a nice retired couple that can give her the attention she needs to feel secure. Another gentle doggy companion would also be good. We do not know about cats. She is learning to spend time in her own bed rather than needing a lap full time, but we know which she prefers... She is up-to-date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm tested (negative). She will make her debut at PetSmart Adoption Clinic on February 1st, but she can be visited in her foster home before then. Call the person above to learn more.

Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
