Koufax, named for famed baseball player Sandy Koufax, is a great little guy with a lot of personality and love to give. Found as a stray, most likely a casualty of 4th of July fireworks, his family never reclaimed him. He still bears some anxieties from that experience. You will see from his photos that he has a variety of clothes and neck collars, as he was neutered recently, but is one of those dogs that will not leave his sutures alone - so we have had to get creative: baby onesies, a donut, and the latest, a necklace of pool floats (it works!!). He cannot wear a cone of shame as it freaks him out. Koufax also suffers from separation anxiety, which is workable, but he should have a family with one or more other dogs to keep him company and someone that can work with him on that behavior. NMAF can also provide training support. He is very dog social and especially likes the little girls! Cats are an unknown. Koufax is playful and affectionate and should be in a home where his person or persons are home most of the time. He should not live with young children (under 10) as he can nip when frightened or confronted with one of his "triggers", like a garden hose. We believe he was captured using a pole noose (not uncommon), but he still remembers it, poor guy. He is sleeping in a crate and enjoys his food and soft squeaky toys, especially his little orange ball. This little guy is full of life and a fun mix of his two breeds (our guess, though, the Brussels Griffon is very prominent in his scrunchy face!). At 14 pounds, he is not tiny or fragile, but still a great size for lap sitting and cuddling on the couch. Oh yes - he loves, loves, loves belly rubs... Arrangements can be made to meet him once an application is submitted and reviewed. Application is available here. Please return it to the person listed above.
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
