Contact Kate at kmolsbe@gmail.com for more information about Mariposa.
Mariposa is a pretty little girl who has a shy, quiet personality. She is what we call an "Owner Surrender", coming from a home with too many dogs and a loving family that just needs to downsize animals in order to move to the City. She has adjusted well to foster care and is warming to her new environment and foster mom. Coming from a home with a lot of dogs, she may not have had the individual attention she needed, and that has made her shy at first. She needs a Furrever Home that is quiet, without children, and a patient owner or couple willing to work with her to continue to build her confidence. Her new foster mom says every day she gets better, and more open, allowing herself to be picked up, comes when called, and goes outside to potty when the door is opened for her. She is also sleeping in a crate and gets along with the other dogs in her foster home. The hair on her body is growing back in from a summer haircut, her tail is a long plume. She will need regular grooming to keep her looking her best. She has black, tan, & white markings. At just under 14 pounds, she needs to lose a few pounds so is on a weight loss food which she should continue. She has recently had her shots updated, is microchipped, and needs a dental which NMAF will schedule and pay for; however, if the right home is found soon, she can be adopted and the dental done when it can be scheduled. We will also get her a heartworm test at the time of her dental. She is a great candidate for a single senior or couple, perhaps another social dog brother or sister, as she is used to having them around.
If you are interested in meeting Mariposa, please complete an application and send it to the person listed above. There is no commitment or guarantee for adoption but allows for screening before setting up a meet & greet with her foster.
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
