Contact Kate at kmolsbe@gmail.com for more information about Millie.
Millie came to NMAF through the Bernalillo County Shelter where she ended up as a stray. Her shelter pic showed her huddled in the back of her small kennel, looking so forlorn and frightened, she stole the hearts of her new foster family, and we were able to pull her into rescue. She is a tiny little thing, under 7 pounds currently, but is already coming out of her shell with the help of her new best friend, Daisy Duck. Notice her new "BFF" in her photos below. Somehow, this little creature has found her security blanket and it is helping her to learn to cope with her new life outside of the shelter. We do know she does not like cats so will not be considered for placement with one. She is living with 2 other small dogs and seems to be doing well, though not playing as yet - she, like many of the little ones, is more people centric than dog centric so she could be an only dog. And then, of course, there is the Duck, which will go with her wherever she goes. Somehow the Duck is bringing her confidence and comfort - we love it just like Linus and his blanket! Millie is up-to-date on all shots, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm tested (neg). She sleeps quietly in a puppy pen in her cuddle bed and appears housebroken, not even using the potty pads provided for her. She will need a quiet home, no small children (<10), and would be a great companion for an active senior or couple looking for a sweet companion. At only 2 years old, she should have a walk every day to keep her active and fit.
If you are interested in meeting Millie, please submit an application and arrangements can be made. Applications are available here.
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
