Good Golly Miss Mollie!! You sure are a cutie even if you are scared to death in your pictures...The photos were taken right after she came out of the Valencia County Shelter - you can see she is quite frightened. She was one of numerous dogs that found themselves there because there were "too many animals in the home", which most likely means a hoarding case. Mollie is slowly starting to come out of her shell in foster care - she will come running to her foster mom, tail wagging when out in the yard to potty, but as soon as she is picked up, she stiffens. She may have been abused at some point, is not used to being touched, and lacks socialization with humans. She does appear to like other dogs, and we would want her to have one or more small companions to help guide her along. Shy dogs take time and patience, but seeing progress in her already, we believe she can come much further with the right home and family.
No small children, a quiet home with another small dog or dogs, a yard to explore, and loving, patient owners is what this little girl needs. She will be spayed and complete her shots & microchip on May 18th and be ready for her new life soon after that. Arrangements can be made to meet her after review of a completed application, available here.
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
