Meet Norman - we are going to call him "Stormin Norman" because he will storm his way right into your heart! His namesake, Norman Schwarzkopf, was quite a character, a lot like this little guy. Little Norman found himself at the shelter when his family said they could no longer care for him - a sad outcome for too many senior pups. Norman did not go into a decline, however. Instead, he soon captured the hearts of the shelter staff. He would lay quietly in his kennel bed until you walked up to the cage door, then you would see his little stump of a tail wiggle and soon he would just roll over on his back and present his tummy for a rub, even though you could not reach him through the door. This captivated us the day we saw him there and ultimately "sealed the deal", and he came into NMAF Foster Care. Talk about great advertising! Yes, Norman has the most adorable Corgi-like stumpy tail, and it is wagging all the time. He loves, loves people and will crawl into your lap for pets & cuddles without hesitation and shower you with kisses. He is a bit of a chunky-monkey right now and, at just under 16 pounds, is on a controlled diet, which should help him lose the extra pounds. He just had a dental and a Senior Wellness check-up and everything is good to go. He likes the company of other dogs, we don't know about cats, but he would love to have a home with or without other pups, as long as he has a lap close at hand. Come meet this little guy or contact the person listed above for more info. He can be visited at his foster home with pre-arrangement. Who says there isn't life after 70 (in human years)?? Norman is just waiting for his next chapter to begin!
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
