Paige - Adopted
Female
Yorkshire Terrier
Born 2014-2015
Contact Kate at kmolsbe@gmail.com for more information about Paige.
Paige came to NMAF the same way and at the same time that little Newton did - from the Bernalillo County Shelter and through a hoarding case with dozens of other animals in the home. She promptly came down with kennel cough as soon as we got her out of the shelter, so she had to stay quiet for a couple of weeks. She had found a potential family before we even advertised her, but things are not going to work out, so she is now up for adoption. We have not been able to get her spayed yet, due to the COVID-19 standown, but it is scheduled for April 13th and we are hopeful it can get done. She appears to be a purebred, black & tan Yorkshire Terrier and, true to her breed, a little "bossy britches", telling all the other dogs in her foster home what to do, when, and why. She even bosses the much bigger dogs around. She is very sweet with people, a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. She is super smart and has set herself up as the "Queen Bee" in her foster home. Her foster mom says she has a ton of personality and learns quickly. We think she may do best as an only dog as the severe competition she had to endure in her former life makes her possessive of her favorite human. Cats are an unknown. She likes to sit and watch TV at night, sleeps in a crate (as long as the door is open), and appears to be potty trained. She is in need of a good grooming, but that is also not available right now, so her tousled look will have to remain a while longer. A spa day will turn her into Cinderella at the Ball!
If you are interested in Paige and in meeting her, following the "social distancing" requirements, it can be arranged, but please fill out an application and email it to Kate at kmolsbe@gmail.com. The application does not guarantee adoption and Paige's new home will be selected based on what is best for her.
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
