Contact Kate at kmolsbe@gmail.com for more information about Peaches.
Peaches is one lucky, lucky girl! She was spotted in the parking lot of the Valencia County Shelter in Los Lunas recently, where she was being surrendered by her owner for herding the goats he had just purchased. He told us he was either going to shoot her or take her to the shelter, where once identified as a dog that chases livestock, she would have been put down anyway. Wrong county to be in... Super NMAF foster, Okie, took her in and she has been doing really well in foster care. It is time for her to find her new Furever Home.
Peaches turned out to be a real sweetheart, affectionate with people and gets along with all the other dogs in her foster home. She has been put on a diet to lose a little weight. We think she may be a Cattle Dog & Beagle cross as her coloring is not typical of purebred Australians. She is house-trained, sleeps in a crate and, other than her herding transgression (isn't that what her breed is supposed to do???), is a great dog. She will need to be spayed, microchipped, and receive her shots as soon as an appointment can be set up for her, but if you are interested in meeting her, that can be arranged at a public location observing the proper COVID-19 social distancing. Peaches would make a great family dog with older (>10 yrs) children as this breed can be known for herding younger ones. She promises to make a great companion and friend for the rest of her years. If you are interested in meeting her, please submit an application to the person listed above.
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
