Poppy is an adorable, Husky/Shepherd mix puppy found abandoned at a schoolyard by her now foster mom. She has thrived under home care and is well on her way to being a well-socialized, happy & healthy pup. She lives with 3 other bigger dogs including a Husky, sleeps and plays with them, and does not even seem to be frightened by Santa (see picture below), which most pups would be petrified of. Her foster mom says she is just the happiest little girl! She is still working on potty training, but that is to be expected at her young age. She is also learning how to enjoy time in her crate, though she much prefers to sleep with her older dog pals piled all together! She is self-assured when meeting new people and has that adorable puppy wiggle, and would be an excellent candidate for puppy daycare and puppy training at this point. We can recommend a couple of good places for both. She has had her shots & is current to date, will need a spay, microchip, and last round of shots but can go to her new Furrever Home any time under our Foster-to-Adopt Program. We want a home for Poppy that has at least 1 more playful dog as puppies do so much better in that environment and learn from an older mentor dog. Formal training and possibly puppy daycare will be required as part of her adoption conditions. We expect her to be a medium-sized dog when full grown. Currently she weighs about 13 pounds. Come meet her and her foster mom, Susan, at PetSmart on Academy on Saturdays, 10-1, or contact the person listed above for more info.
Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
