Buddy is a sweet and handsome pup, about 8 months old, with a beautiful soft red coat with black highlights and kohl-rimmed eyes. He was found wandering in the South Valley, picked up with his sister, and taken to the Bernalillo County Shelter, which is where he came to NMAF from on December 22nd. He warms up to people pretty quickly and gets along with other dogs and, as a puppy, likes to play so would do well with another doggy playmate, preferably female. He is currently about 23 pounds so will end up a medium-sized boy when fully grown. He was diagnosed with kennel cough on December 26th and has started treatment. It is not uncommon for dogs coming out of the shelter environment, even with immunization, to get this virus, so if he is fostered or fostered-to-adopt, his family needs to have animals immunized for this virus or have no animals in the home. Due to his time on the streets, we do not recommend children under 10 as he can be spooked. He is an affectionate boy and makes friends readily as long as you are slow at first. He is up-to-date on all shots, neutered, and microchipped.
