Fox was living on the streets with her loving, but homeless, person. When she became pregnant, he knew that he could no longer keep her and her soon to be born pups. That is where we stepped in. All of her puppies have been adopted, and now we just need to find the perfect forever home for this deserving girl.
Fox shows her love through attentiveness, kisses, and joyful tail wags. She is not really food motivated, preferring positive reinforcement and praise. Fox bonds with her person and will be your best buddy in a short amount of time.
She has been enjoying meeting her extended foster family of all ages, from 2 years old to 80! She is as gentle as could be and loves getting tons of pets and scratches.
She likes to chase toys and will play fetch. She loves to run and especially chase birds. She will play with sticks and come back when called, or just sit quietly with you and roll around in the grass.
Fox would do best in a home with a large back yard or perhaps a home with some property (1/4 acre+) - a place where she can stretch her legs in the safety and security of her own home. When she is on walks in a normal "neighborhood", she gets distracted and can be reactive to bunnies, cats, or other dogs. This can be managed to some extent, but management of this issue may include stretching her legs in the confines of her own yard. We would be happy to provide a training session with our trainer that is familiar with Fox's behavior when distracted. She can give you tips on how to avoid or minimize Fox's reactivity.
We can also offer her potential adopters a foster-to-adopt option so that you can make sure she is a good fit for your household. Fox is a fantastic dog and canine companion and well worth working through some of her initial anxieties as she gets to know her surroundings.
She is also completely house-trained, and she responds to "sit", "stay", "come", "lie down", "go to place", and "heel". She is not a barker and has no problems with neighbors or cars going by the house.
Fox is a beautiful girl that is ready for her furrever home. She is spayed, has all of her shots, is heartworm negative, and microchipped.
