Joey is a cautious cat by nature.  You have to earn his trust.  It takes some time but is not difficult – just feed him canned food and make sure to approach slowly.  Once you have completed this, you will be greeted with purrs and get to stroke the softest fur ever. 

Joey may always startle easily, maybe because he came from a house with fourteen dogs.  If he does start away from you, it is only necessary to hold your hand out to the side and he comes back to enjoy petting.
 
He is a very intelligent cat and knows how to open cabinets.  He is very good with the other cats – his feline foster companions Benjamin and Chewbacca like him.  He is unrelated to but raised with Charlotte and is the only cat able to walk up and take canned food from her.  She would object to that from anyone else but tolerates it from him. 

He is a sweet, loving cat once he gets to know you. He will make a loyal companion in a calm, predictable, loving home.
