Teddy had a hard start in life.
When he was neutered, Teddy was exposed to an upper respiratory viral infection that, because of his generally run down condition, made him very ill. He almost died. With one trip to the ER, a great local veterinarian and good home care, Teddy is now healthy, and his weight normal.
Teddy's feline friend Bernadette, whose color is called "Black Smoke," came home with him from Street Cat Hub after Teddy was neutered. She was apparently already ill with the viral infection, too. A trip to the ER was also necessary for her. She weighed just over half a pound at six weeks of age, and with no reserves of fat or health, she too almost died. With love and good veterinary care, both cats are healthy now. Bernie adores her "big brother."
The duo were always within sight and sound of each other when they were ill. Bernadette did most of the talking and seemed to keep Teddy's spirits up.
Teddy has become a very cuddly and laid-back cat, although he is still wary of new situations and people. He keeps a close eye on Bernadette, putting himself between her and any new animals that are introduced into the home. Bernie always checks in with Teddy, especially at the end of a busy day of play. They curl up together for the night in a blanket-lined bathroom sink.
They live with three different dogs - one big, lazy black German Shepherd, one grumpy old Lab mix, and one way-too-playful Shelty who, of course, tries to herd them.
These are happy, contented cats with jade green eyes. Though right now, getting used to the adoption center, they may act a bit shy.
