All About Lily
Lily is a spayed female black & tan spaniel mix, possibly Cavalier King Charles with some Chihuahua, making her a mix called a Chilier. At about 16 pounds, she has the soft wavy coat and big brown eyes of a spaniel, with a docked tail and feathered legs & feet combined with the alert nature of a Chihuahua - always watching to see where you are going or what you are doing especially if it involves a possible treat. She is a happy little girl that wants only to be by your side - no matter what you are doing. She has a high need for human contact, having been deprived of it earlier in her life and is not fond of being alone but is not anxiety destructive. She will cry for a good long time if left alone, however. She loves to go for walks and can manage a good distance (> 1 mile) without tiring and gets very excited when her harness comes out. Her BFF Squirt, also with NMAF, with whom she lived previously, gives her companionship and comfort and shares her crate at night. She loves to wriggle happily on her back on the carpet, snooze in a patch of sunlight or snuggle up with you for a good movie. She is quiet and sweet and only wants the constancy of her family. She is an avid chewer, loves bully sticks and small rawhides which has helped keep her teeth in good shape.
Lily is friendly with just about everybody, a great lap sitter and good with smaller dogs - larger dogs take proper introduction, separation at first and patience to ensure she is not reactive. Cats are an unknown, small children are not recommended. She is crate trained, up to date on all shots, microchipped and heartworm negative. She is basically house-trained but can get lazy if not taken outside every few hours, though easily goes 9-10 hours in her crate at night. She would love to stay with BFF Squirt, but consideration will be given to adopting her alone - Lily will tell us if she can make it without Squirt. She would make a great companion for a retired single or couple that can shower her with the attention she craves, ensuring she knows she is loved and protected. Her story is amazing to hear - so ask when you meet her. If adopted together as a pair, their adoption fee is $150, if separately, each is $150. Please read Squirt's bio as she is quite a charmer and worth considering.
