Shiloh – approximately 1.5 - 2 years old, petite, female, shorthair, dilute calico
Shiloh was living with her litter of kittens in boat in the UNM area when she was rescued. All of her kittens were adopted and Shiloh is waiting to find that perfect forever home.
Shiloh is a darling, gentle cat. She enjoys sitting in laps and should one become available, she is the first to run over and inspect. Sometimes she is finicky and only wants to sit on your lap, purr and not be petted too much – particularly on her back. Other times, she loves to be petted from head to tail. She likes to be scratched under the chin and behind her ears. If you allow cats to sleep on the bed, you will find Shiloh there nearly every night cuddling up with you.
She has lived with as many as five other pets during her time at her foster home– 2 dogs and 3 cats. She currently lives with two dogs and two other cats. She doesn’t mind the dogs at all and while generally ambivalent toward the other cats, has been seen recently chasing them around the house playfully. She will frequently share close spaces (like a lap!) with the other cats and on occasion will chase them away if they invade her personal space.
Based on our experiences with Shiloh, she will fit best in a calmer home with (1-2) other well-behaved, calm, friendly pet(s). She should also be content as an only pet.
As with many cats, she may be shy and timid in a new situation and it will take her a few weeks to really open up. Once she does and you experience her darling and lovable personality (especially when she sits on your lap) she’ll become increasingly more social, affectionate, and playful.
She LOVES canned cat food so much that we would like to see her be adopted by a family who will feed her canned food on a regular basis. She does also eat dry food daily and she loves dry treats.
Summary
Shiloh has a tender heart and needs a home that will appreciate her gentle nature as well as showing her affection. Once she is familiar with her environment, she will be more comfortable and open up. She is a lap cap, a cuddle bug, and loves to play with toys. She is generally a quiet cat and will only meow on occasion when she sees her food being prepared or when playing with certain toys. At times, she can be finicky (she is a calico!). Overall, she is a low-maintenance cat who only asks for a lap to sit on, affection from humans, toys and canned food.
