There’s nothing about Taz you won’t like! He is a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, approximately 4-5 yrs old, neutered male, friendly with other dogs, cats and is a confident and adoring little boy. His reddish brown coat is glossy and smooth, hardly sheds at all, and it shows off his shapely little frame and well-defined muscles. Due to a life changing event Taz was surrendered to NMAF 11/22/09.
Taz is a “people dog” because he loves to be with his humans 24/7. If you enjoy company while you surf the internet, watch TV, or read a book, Taz will sit on your lap to watch or listen. If you have to do laundry, dishes, or change the oil in your car, Taz is there to encourage you. He loves to travel and go for a walk, which makes him an excellent pal to run errands with or exercise in the park. Any thing you like to do, Taz would love to do it with you.
Taz is expressive and has many different ways of communicating with you. He often groans, grunts, and growls, but it is not to show displeasure, its just his way of chatting with you throughout the day. Taz likes to have the last word when you leave him in the house or the car, but its just to tell you not to forget to return. Taz is kennel trained and loves to burrow under the blankets to nap and at bedtime. He is house trained and lets you know when “its time” by leaving your side and showing active sniffing and prancing. Taz is harness trained, does not pull on his leash, and walks next to you never leaving your side. He is quiet in the yard and follows direction on where to go potty; he will help you with yard work, but prefers not to be outside alone. Taz has been exposed to older children (10+ yrs) and is playful, but his communication skills are misunderstood so many times his child-playmates become wary and parents become suspicious of Taz’s intentions. If you are looking for a clean, easy care companion then Taz is a perfect pal!
